Five different systems. One method.

Each case is told the same way: what the system looked like, what I found when I measured it, what I built, and what changed.

01 Industry · 2026 – present

A zinc plant

Industrias Electroquímicas S.A. (IEQSA) · Lima

Data Analyst & AI Solutions Engineer, reporting to the CEO and executive committee.

The largest zinc-processing complex in South America: about 400 people, more than 60 years of operation, exports to more than 25 countries.

94%
less time per quote
~1,500 h
of manual work removed per year
20
engineers working with AI under the same rules
  1. The system

An ERP written in GeneXus in 2000, on an Oracle database with hundreds of millions of records, that seven departments depend on: sales, maintenance, warehouse, safety, logistics, HR and finance.

  2. Diagnosis

A large share of daily work was copying data from one system to another. A single freight quote took 15 to 18 minutes, and the team prepares 20 to 30 of them a day.

  3. Treatment

    • Integration of the Oracle database into the new TypeScript ERP (microservices, Docker, CI/CD) without losing the business logic the old system carried.
    • Demand forecasting models that combine the ERP with external market sources.
    • Automation of freight quoting and, with the same approach, of international metal price tracking, order entry, electronic invoicing, HR and port-terminal integrations, and competitor price analysis.
    • A company-specific MCP server that encodes business rules, architecture standards and mandatory controls, so the systems team can work with Claude Code without losing quality or traceability.
  4. Outcome

Freight quotes went from 15–18 minutes to under one.

Timber from the Amazon

E & J Matthei Maderas del Perú S.A. · Madre de Dios

Data & AI Lead and process consultant, reporting to executive management.

One of Peru’s five largest timber exporters, with three plants in the Amazon, operating under SERFOR’s national traceability regime.

74%
of incoming timber affected by a wrong rule
~30,000
records used to test every rule
100%
accuracy on verifiable fields
  1. The system

The chain that follows every log from the standing tree to dispatch. It was kept by hand in spreadsheets and had to reconcile with the regulator’s public and private systems.

  2. Diagnosis

I tested the rules the team took for granted against about 30,000 records, and several did not hold. The worst was a species key, already in production, that merged two species the regulator keeps apart. It affected 74% of incoming timber.

  3. Treatment

    • The rules for lot assignment, volume calculation and source attribution, written from how the operation actually works rather than from what was assumed.
    • An ingestion engine that removes manual data entry at goods receipt: a streaming extractor on Cloudflare Workers for the regulator’s public portal, which has no API, plus an authenticated client for its operations book.
    • AI reading of handwritten transport guides: several models with automatic failover, two parallel readings compared field by field, and human review for anything that cannot be verified. The validation arithmetic does not depend on the model.
    • The traceability modules in React and TypeScript on Firebase: lot classification, plant coding, purchased-lumber registry and per-contract volumes.
  4. Outcome

A traceability chain built on measured rules instead of assumed ones, and handwritten guides read with no errors on any verifiable field.

03 Economic data · 2024 – 2026

Inflation in real time

Truflation · B2B economic data startup

Data Analytics & Economics Research Lead.

A company that computes inflation every day from millions of prices, with more than 200,000 subscribers worldwide.

~45 days
ahead of the official index
12 M
daily prices from 3,600 retailers in Argentina
1st
Chainlink Demo Day, SmartCon 2025
  1. The system

The economy seen through daily prices, and how it relates to the official inflation index, U.S. Treasury yields, the dollar and Bitcoin.

  2. Diagnosis

Nobody had systematically compared the company’s data with the official U.S. CPI. When I did, trend changes showed up about 45 days earlier on average.

  3. Treatment

    • Python pipelines that score institutional inflation forecasts against every official release.
    • Models of the timing between inflation and different assets, and a hysteresis-based algorithm that classifies inflation regimes.
    • An inflation-driven asset allocation strategy, validated through backtesting, which we adapted to on-chain infrastructure with the founders of QuantAMM.
    • Truflation Argentina, with Argentina’s Ministry of Economy: a pipeline that ingests and AI-classifies the national price feed, published as open data.
  4. Outcome

The flagship product stopped being pitched as another inflation measure and became a leading indicator. The QuantAMM strategy took first place at Chainlink Demo Day, SmartCon 2025, in New York.

04 Clinical research · 2019 – present

International clinical trials

Institute of Tropical Medicine Alexander von Humboldt · UPCH

Project Manager, clinical research data.

Studies with real people in several countries, where one badly recorded value can change the conclusion about a diagnostic test.

4
international diagnostic trials
3
countries in the AI cough study
8
peer-reviewed publications
  1. The system

Four international diagnostic trials funded by the U.S. NIH and Abbott, with sites in Peru and Uganda. Today, also an AI cough-monitoring study with McGill, the University of Texas Medical Branch and Heidelberg.

  2. Diagnosis

Data quality is not negotiable here: every record must trace back to its source, and any bias in a model is paid for in someone’s health.

  3. Treatment

    • Study databases with field-level validation, staged quality control and source data verification.
    • The data architecture and analysis plan for the cough study: the longitudinal audio and clinical database that will train a neural network to recognise five respiratory infections from the sound of a cough.
    • Evaluation by AUC, sensitivity and specificity, with algorithmic bias checks by sex and subgroup, and density maps across two Lima districts.
  4. Outcome

Eight peer-reviewed publications, including one as first author in PLOS Global Public Health.

Prevtor: see the risk first

Prevtor · computer vision for industrial plants

I designed and built it end to end: models, platform and hardware sizing.

A platform that watches the cameras a plant already has and warns before something happens. It is the same idea as preventive medicine: find the risk while it is still not an accident.

98 → 5
false "no helmet" alerts after redesigning detection
59/59
steel straps found with RF-DETR, versus 56 with YOLO11
108
cameras reviewed before promising what can be detected
Detection is real system output on plant footage; the platform is shown with sample data. Faces blurred.
  1. The system

A plant with more than a hundred cameras spread across recorders of different generations, operators working near suspended loads, and a safety team that cannot watch every screen at once.

  2. Diagnosis

Before training anything I went through every camera and recorder. Many record at 960×480, where a glove is about 5 pixels wide and safety glasses 1 or 2. No model can see that, so the system only promises what the image allows and says which cameras are worth replacing. I also checked the starting training data by hand: it had real steel straps left unlabelled, and off-the-shelf models found 0 of 127.

  3. Treatment

    • A per-operator check of protective equipment that combines pose, silhouette and colour: helmet, ear protection and gloves, with a vote over time so a single frame never triggers an alert.
    • A danger zone under the suspended load that follows the hook and compensates for camera movement, plus production measurements from video, such as the speed of an uncoiler.
    • YOLO11 and RF-DETR compared on the same data. RF-DETR was more accurate and its licence allows selling it, so it powers the product.
    • The full platform: a 3D plant view with anonymous people, incidents with WhatsApp alerts, compliance reports by area, and hardware sized for 30 cameras.
  4. Outcome

A finished product that runs on real plant footage. It uses no facial recognition: it sees the risk, not the person, and blurs faces.

Recent projects

Things I built in 2026 outside my main roles. Each one says where it stands.

Sable CRM

A real-estate CRM built around WhatsApp: conversation inbox, sales funnel, visit scheduling, unit inventory, quotes and campaigns. An AI assistant answers prospects, scores them and hands them to an agent.

I designed and built it in one week. It is multi-tenant, and isolation between companies and roles is enforced by the database, not the interface. Every AI call logs its cost against a monthly budget per company. 105 unit tests and 18 end-to-end tests.

Voice virtual patient

A simulated patient that listens, answers and stays in character, for practising the clinical interview of a tuberculosis case. It runs entirely on one computer, with no internet.

The language model never sees the whole clinical truth: a deterministic "director" releases each finding only when the student asks the right question. Leakage of unasked facts fell from 5 of 6 to 0 of 12, and replies take about 250 ms.

Status Prototype. Each case needs sign-off from a supervising physician before students use it.

Tuberculous granuloma in 3D

A model of the tuberculous granuloma and of lungs with lesions that produces 3D-printable pieces, a virtual-reality viewer and a measurement report you can check against the literature.

One coordinate system spans five orders of magnitude, from 25 cm to 3 microns, and every measurement cites its source. It includes a pipeline that turns a CT scan into printable pieces.

Drones and AI against dengue

A research proposal to the TDR/WHO call (CA26-0034), led by UPCH with InnovaLab: drones and computer vision to find Aedes breeding sites across 28 blocks of San Juan de Lurigancho, about 700 households.

I am the study coordinator and AI/data analyst. I trained the pilot detector (YOLO11s), which reached an mAP@0.5 of 0.74–0.75 on water tanks.
